There are 182,166 cases of Influenza A virus subtype H1N1, including 1799 deaths worldwide. About this fact formally declared the World Health Organization (WHO).
According to the WHO regional offices, the leader in the number of cases is the North and South America. There was registered 105,882 patients including 1579 deaths. In Europe influenza A/H1N1 virus infected more than 32 thousand people, 56 of them died. In the west Pacific region, the number of new cases of influenza exceeded 27 thousand: 27,111 infected, including 50 deaths. In Southeast Asia, the number of cases had reached 13,172, of whom 106 people died. At the eastern Mediterranean have been the victims influenza A/H1N1 2532 people, including 8 deaths. In Africa, from 1469 cases 3 were fatal. WHO said that since countries are not obliged to report new cases of infection, published data may be understated in comparison with the real situation. WHO experts predict that influenza virus A/H1N1 will affect approximately 2 billion people on the planet. Experts note that a new flu continues to spread rapidly, but the vast majority of cases takes place in mild form disease and many infected persons do not go immediately to the doctor making it difficult to obtain accurate data on the number of patients.
