British scientists found out that spread of
cancer cells separated from tumor can be monitored with help of medicines.
Earlier it was reported that normal growth and movement of cells is controlled by specialized genes. Recently, the same scientists found that some cancer cells detach from tumor and begin moving, when specialized genes first become active, and then terminated. Detached cells cannot move through blood, they use lymphatic system for this; spread of cancer is limited here. However, search for separated cells in the body is like finding a moving needle in a very large haystack.
In recent research, British doctors determined genes affecting spread of cancer cells.
