Gastro esophageal reflux is a chronic disease of the gastrointestinal tract, leading to the necessity of taking proton pump.
Japanese researchers studied the impact of
therapy on weight and body mass index of patients over 2.2 years. Between 52 patients and 58 members of the control group there was no difference in the width of the waist and body mass index at the beginning of the study. However, for two years, people have been taking proton pump inhibitors, and weight was increased by 3.5 kg in 71%.
Scientists believe that people who take proton pump inhibitors, need to change lifestyles, avoiding overeating.
