U.S. plans to complete the production of vaccine against the swine flu virus in October. However, doctors pay attention about the seasonal virus that kills up to 36,000 Americans. The vaccine appearance against
influenza virus A/H1N1 in the United States is expected in October.
According to the Secretary of the Ministry of Health and Social Affairs, Mr. Heflin Sibelius, there shall be enough vaccines existing in the country that shall be sufficient to suppress the major outbreak. As soon as the vaccine is output, it will be immediately distributed around the country. The Secretary also pointed that the vaccine appearance is expected in early October, and by the middle of the month there shall be additional supplies.
Firstly, the vaccine will be distributed to health care staff and other personal in the area of high risk (children, pregnant women, people with asthma, diabetes or cardiovascular disease as well as elderly people over 60 years old). According to Mr. Sibelius, by mid-October or even earlier, there would be enough vaccine produced.
Meanwhile, Australian and American researchers confirm that for adult protection there shall be necessary one vaccine dose only against swine influenza (previously supposed to be two doses). Immunity from the new vaccine is produced within ten days (previously it referred up to three weeks). But despite of this, some scientists believe that adults will still need two doses a month because the swine flu genetically is different from ordinary influenza viruses. Currently, the vaccine appeared only in a medical center in Richmond. This center has been testing so far the vaccine on children in order to identify the required number of dosage to protect against the virus.
Meanwhile, American doctors recommend the available vaccine usage against influenza. Medical experts warn that the outbreak of swine flu does not exclude the seasonal outbreaks of the virus, which is in the United States 200,000 people had been hospitalized annually, and 36,000 ones die. Swine influenza infected more than a million Americans, 500 people died. Worldwide, the virus A/H1N1 infected more than 3,500 people.
