There is a hope of researchers to obtain a new drug to treat ovarian and breast cancer. National Cancer Institute is in process to launch testing a new drug that shall be more effectively for the above mentioned cancer. This event is connected with Ovarian Awareness Month and it gives high expectations for positive and successful results of the research.
The Head of Clinical Trial will be Dr. Elise Kohn. The experimental drug named AZD2281 is being studied for breaking mutated genes fixing. Safety first in treatment is the subject for the Test Segment 1. The studies done before have the result as follows: ladies with BRCA mutations and tumor suppressor genes are endangered of breast and ovarian cancer development. The current study is subjected to stop the growth of damaged by cancer cells with self-repairing process.
"The point is to stress the cancer cells with chemotherapy used positively in ovarian and
breast cancers treatment with closing DNA repair paths", - concluded Dr. Kohn.
"New ovarian cancer study will assist to identify cancer as early as possible with high probability for successful treatment," – reported the NCI. AZD2281 drug is less toxic to the cells with standard tumor suppressor genes and it is more toxic to the cells with BRCA mutated genes. These above-mentioned results are brought by the prior tests done on animals.
